Siskiyou Golden Fair

In the spirit of trying to get caught up, I went back through my sketchbook and scanned these sketches from the Siskiyou Golden Fair last summer. I spent 3 days at the fair--2 days sketching and one evening doing photography. By the end of the third day I felt I had really hit my stride with the sketching and spent most of the day drawing in the poultry and rabbit buildings. I was pretty happy with the sketches and of course met lots of inquisitive and knowledgeable young people who were more than happy to give me details about their particular animal. I ended up doing all my sketching standing up and made notes about color and details and then took breaks by going outside to a bench to paint my sketches. I really enjoyed the fair and will probably end up going for 4 days this year!

Jill, I LOVE your Fair sketches. I am so glad that you went and sketched. The chickens are great. It bunnies—well you seem to have a real love for them. I look forward to seeing what you sketch this summer.

I found your blog through Roz's and was hoping you were doing IFJM. But I found these bunnies, and I LOVE THESE BUNNIES!! This was the first year I went to sketch at our state fair, and I fell in love with the bunnies. I sketched on copy paper, so they didn't scan well. And I have no hand for poultry (mores the pity), but I wish I had been able to take pictures (too dark). Hope you are still sketching because these are all a delight.

Lizzie, Thanks for your comment. I am not doing IFJM this year, just too many irons in the fire, but I am still sketching almost daily. I plan to post more sketches when I have time to scan them. Am really looking forward to the fair in August. Thanks for visiting my blog!
